Internship Phase 1: Reflective Journal (Week 1)
As a part of our B.Ed curriculum, we 11 student teachers of Sree Narayana Training College Nedunganda went to Sree Chithiravilasam Boys High School Chirayinkeezhu for our Phase 1 Internship Programme. Our group consisted of three students from English optional, three students from Physical Science optional, two students from Social Science optional and two students from Natural Science optional. The first phase of our internship started on 14th July 2025.

Day 1 - 14/07/2025
Today was our first day of the Phase 1 School internship programs we reached the school by 9:15 a.m. after the school prayer we met the headmistress Mrs Ajitha Kumari teacher. We gave her the consent letter and signed the attendance register.
My assigned class was on second period. As the unit test was being conducted in the morning and afternoon on two periods, I was not able to take the class but I got exam duty. In the morning I got exam duty on lX C and in the afternoon I got exam duty in VIII B.
Because of the unit test the assembly was conducted in the evening. It was it tribute to the popular Malayalam writer Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. Students dressed as various characters from his books and introduced themselves. Their presentation and performance was splendid. The assembly dispersed at 3:15 p.m. and the class ended at 3:45 p.m. after the national anthem.

Day 2 - 15/07/2025
Today was the second day of our Phase 1 Internship Programme as part of our B.Ed curriculum at is SCVBHS Chirayinkeezhu. We reached the school at 8:45 a.m. On reaching there, the security guard greeted us. We went to see the headmistress after having our breakfast. We signed the attendance and she asked us about our previous days experience.
Today second day of the Unit tests. I got exam duty in the morning in VI B. it was Social Science examination I wrote the questions in the blackboard students had some doubts with the question and I helped them by clearing their doubts. The examination continued till the second period.
My assigned class on IX C that day was on the 5th period which was being used for conducting the unit tests. So I was not able to go to my class but I got a substitution period in IX C in the 7th period. I used the substitution period to start the chapter 'Debts of Gratitude'. We left the school at 3:50 p.m.
Day 3 - 16/07/2025
On our third day we reached the school at 7:50 a.m. The security guard of the school greeted us with warm welcome. The day was cloudy. After 9:00 a.m., we signed the attendance register. Today was also the third day of the unit tests. Students had mathematics in the morning and basic science in the afternoon.
I didn't get exam duty in the morning. I got a substitution class in IX C in the fourth period and I continued with my portions from my previous class. That class ended at 12:20 p.m. and students went for lunch break.
In the afternoon I got exam duty in V C. The students finished writing before the end of the period, so in the remaining time, I engaged the students in co-curricular activities. We left for home at 3:45 p.m.
Day 4 - 17/07/2025
On our 4th day, we reach the school at 7:45 a.m. After having breakfast, we went to the head mistress' office to sign the attendance. After some time, the optional teacher of Social Science arrived at the school to conduct the class observation for the Social Science optional student teachers.
It was the last day of the unit test. I didn't get exam duty but as the students of IX C finished their exams early, I got to take the class in the second period. As the teacher who was supposed to take the next period was absent I continued with my class after the interval.
After eating lunch the optional teacher of Social Science went to SSVGHSS Chirayinkeezhu to conduct the observations there. We left school at 3:55 p.m.
Day 5 - 18/07/2025
On our 5th day, we reached the school by 7:40 a.m. There was an education strike today because of the incident that happened on a school in Kerala that caused the death of a student due to electrocution. On reaching the gate the security guard told us that there was no school bus today and the students won't be arriving and he asked us to call the headmistress and ask whether we should stay.
On calling the headmistress, she informed us that class is not being conducted today and told us that we can leave. So we left the school at 8:00 a.m. on her instructions.
